Deepti Bhatia, a full time physiotherapist with a well-known hospital and mother of two young boys shares her transformation story with the Foreverfit team.
1. How much weight have you lost and in how much time?
I lost around 16 pounds (7-8 kgs) in six months. I was not really a heavy person to begin with, but never felt happy in my body. I somehow managed to lose most of my baby weight after my first son was born but it felt like I would never lose the extra fat after my second boy was born. My goal was to shed at least 10 pounds at that point of time.
2. What inspired you to start working out and transform yourself?
Firstly I wanted to feel like my earlier fitter self again. More importantly though, I wanted to be able to enjoy play-time with my boys and match their energy and excitement levels without compromising on my household duties and feeling fatigued at the end of the day. I just had to find a way to do it!
3. What is your weekly workout and dietary regime?
Initially, I aimed to be more consistent with my workouts and started working out 5-6 days a week, for 1 hour at a stretch. My workout consisted of HIIT, strength training and some cardio. To keep me on my toes and improve my endurance, my trainer Hasmeet Bindra modified my workout each and every day. He also gave me a realistic diet that I could follow whilst pushing myself to work out and complete my daily chores.
4. How did family and friends respond to your new found determination to get fit?
My kids and my husband have been my biggest supporters and kept my enthusiasm going throughout my journey. I really don’t think anyone can get fit without a little encouragement at home. My friends and extended family members are amazed to see how I have improved my fitness levels and transformed myself.
Tell us a bit more about your trainer…
Hasmeet is an amazing person and superb trainer. His ability to provide sessions virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic helped me a lot. I really appreciate his ability to adjust my workouts to accommodate my changing ability to perform them as I progressed. I find him to be a good communicator and felt comfortable with him right from Day 0.
6. Any tips for others seeking to lose weight?
Be consistent. Get some comfortable workout gear. Drink enough water and make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sound sleep.
